Agustina Scaro

Archaeologist

Since 2010 I have been conducting research in Quebrada de Humahuaca (North of Argentina, South-Central Andes), focusing on pre-Hispanic landscapes from a comprehensive perspective, incorporating materiality studies (pottery and architecture). My objective has been to understand local pre-Inca societies and the impact of Inca domination on them. Pottery analysis has been one of the main lines, considering stylistic, morpho- metric and technological studies. With this aim, I work in a network of colleagues from different disciplines and archaeological areas in the Andes, encouraging the development and incorporation of photogrammetry, 3D reconstructions, and Data Bases to our practice. I have been working with the aboriginal community on reconstructing the local past, heritage management, and revaluing traditional and indigenous knowledge.
